Cookie Policy

Strictly necessary

These keep the app working and can't be turned off from within Lineup, since there's no functioning app without them.

• Supabase auth session — keeps you signed in between visits.
• lineup_media_type — remembers whether you're in Movies or Shows mode.
• lineup_onboarding_seen — remembers that you've completed (or skipped) the taste-check quiz, so you don't see it again every visit.
• lineup_geo — an approximate location, used only to power location-aware picks like weather-based recommendations.

Analytics — requires your consent

Lineup uses PostHog for product analytics: which features get used, where people drop off, and what's worth building next. This is entirely gated behind the cookie banner shown on your first visit — choosing “Decline” means no analytics cookie is set and no usage events are sent, on both the client and server side. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site, which brings the banner back.

• lineup_analytics_consent — records your accept/decline choice itself (set regardless of which you pick, so we don't show the banner on every visit).
• PostHog's own cookies/local storage — only set after you accept; used to group your events into a single anonymized session and user history.

Local storage, not cookies

A few features use your browser's local storage instead of cookies — this data never leaves your device on its own. Examples: taste swipes from the pre-signup teaser (carried through to your account when you sign up), and cached Watchlist/Watched state for a snappier reload. Clearing your browser's site data removes these the same way it would a cookie.

Third parties

Stripe (checkout/billing) and YouTube (trailer embeds) may set their own cookies when you're actively using those specific features — governed by their own policies, not ours. Neither loads on a page you haven't opened.
